Hunger Action Network Honors Six Anti-Hunger Leaders at 25th Anniversary  
Event on Wednesday May 23rd at Empire State Plaza 
The Hunger Action Network of New York State will honor six anti-hunger  
organizations and their leaders at the annual Feast for Famine held at the Egg  at 
the Empire State Plaza on Wednesday May 23rd from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. 
The groups and individuals recognized include Mark Quandt and the  Regional 
Food Bank of North East NY; Food Pantries for the Capital District;  Empire 
Justice Center; Frank Mauro and the Fiscal Policy Institute; The Focus  Churches; 
and the Nutrition Consortium of New York. 
“These groups and individuals have all done exceptional work,” remarked  
Bich Ha Pham, Executive Director of Hunger Action Network, which was founded in  
1982. “They have challenged our political leaders and communities to take 
action  to end hunger, both by distributing food to those who are hungry today 
while  working to eliminate the long-term causes of poverty.” 
Feast for Famine is a food and beverage tasting to raise support for  Hunger 
Action’s work in the Capital District. The food will be prepared by some  of 
the Capital Region’s best chefs, accompanied by teas, microbrews, coffee and  a 
silent auction served to participants. 
Some of the participating restaurants, coffeehouses, and microbreweries  
include: Barcelona Restaurant, Bayou Café, Bongiornos, Capital City Roasters,  
Cascade Mountain Winery and Restaurant, Dakota Steakhouse, Debbie's Kitchen,  
DeJohn's Restaurant & Pub, DiviniTea, El Loco Mexican Café, El Mariachi  Mexican 
Restaurant, Fior D’Italia Pasta & Cheese, Grandma's Pies, Justin’s,  McCadam 
Cheese, Mr. Subb, My Linh, Olde Saratoga Brewing Co., Palmer House, Rock  Hill 
Bakehouse, Shalimar, Ta-Ke Japanese Steak House, Thee Ginger Man Wine Bar  & 
Restaurant, and Yono’s. 
. 
The event is co-sponsored by CSEA, PEF, Albany Public School Teacher’s  
Association, NYS Nurses Association, Metroland and Times Union. 
Hunger Action Network of NYS is a statewide membership organization of  
direct food providers, advocates and other individuals whose goal is to end  hunger 
and its root causes, including poverty, in New York State.
