The Hunger Action Network of New York works on the federal, state and county levels to support, enact and streamline legislation and programs that will help alleviate poverty and hunger throughout the state. Many federal policies are administered by the state and individual counties. As such, programs are often greatly different in each locality, with divergent outcomes for those in need. Additionally, some of the most important policies and programs that address the root causes of hunger are developed by the state, thus a focus on the New York State level is all the more important.
