This past, Monday, April 11th, faith leaders, organizers, and poor and low-wage workers gathered in New York City’s Wall Street, for a Moral March and Mass Gathering. The gathering was a part of a series of mobilization tour stops the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call For Moral Revival is co-hosting nationwide. Each tour stop leads us to the historic Assembly and March in Washington DC on June 18, 2022: https://www.poorpeoplescampaign.org/.
Thank you to all who testified including, Jennifer E. Cuffee-Wilson who shared from the pulpit more of the plight, fight, and insight of the Shinnecock Nation, “We are surrounded by nothing but billionaires. One of the billionaires had the nerve to go on national television and tell them that Shinnecock Indian nation is disastrous and they need help. Well, are they helping us? No. but he’s got a house out there. He’s living on stolen land.”
Numerous press outlets covered the March On Wall Street including: The Gothamist Marching in Manhattan, advocates for the poor set their sights on D.C., Common Dreams Poor People’s Campaign Marches on Wall Street Against ‘Lies of Neoliberalism’, and others. Special thank you to our interns at Labor Religion Coalition of NYS who were instrumental in getting press coverage!
