This Giving Tuesday, Farm School NYC is excited to spotlight a steward of their community. NYC is known for many things, but a strong sense of community is not one of them. Frances, currently a program co-coordinator with Farm School NYC, is shifting this narrative through her work in service to land and community.

Frances (she / they) is a black woman land steward and community organizer. Frances entered Farm School as a student while learning to grow food and medicine with La Finca del Sur Community Farm in the South Bronx. They were amazed to see a program in the city that focused on food and land justice with a social justice framework.

Today marks the eve of #GivingTuesday, and we are excited to share that we have secured a $10,000 donation match. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿.

Donations sustain us and allow us to see the growth that Frances envisions for Farm School NYC – from expanding the rural and urban pipeline to increasing the number of cohorts. At this moment filled with climate anxiety, your gift not only builds out our programs, it also helps us support and connect with farmer faculty and folks working to seed the future we hope to build.
