Job Description:
The Organizing Director is Citizen Action’s chief community organizer, setting the overall direction for our organizing staff and ensuring that we continue building grassroots power to win our campaigns and work toward our vision of the world. This position requires expert-level organizing techniques and demonstrated success in building grassroots support for issue and/or electoral campaigns.

The candidate must be a bold leader who is experienced in managing a diverse staff to win strategic campaigns that will grow our organization. The scope of this assignment is statewide, so frequent travel will be necessary.

In order to lead our staff of organizers and work to develop and execute the organization’s strategies to advance a long term vision for justice, the candidate must share a deep commitment to racial and social justice. An ideal candidate will have demonstrated a life-long quest to build progressive power to achieve a vision of justice in local communities and beyond.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Organizing Director will perform a wide range of duties and have responsibilities, including:
Build, develop, and lead a large staff of community organizers, lead organizers and regional directors, including ensuring the development and training of those staff and working with the team to accomplish goals.
Oversee the tracking and reporting of organizing program goals and outcomes.

On Sunday, June 13th at 7:00pm ET for EWOC’s first virtual fundraising event. Get your tickets to support this critical work today!  Ticket sales include special packages with t-shirts and baseball hats.
The event will feature filmmaker and musician Boots Riley interviewing an EWOC worker organizer, along with comedians John Early, Kenice Mobley, Jake Flores, Ellen Harrold, and Morgan and Kemp. All these incredible performers are coming together because they agree: unions are cool!

The event will be hosted by Jabari Brisport and Zohran Mamdani and feature filmmaker and musician Boots Riley interviewing an EWOC worker organizer, along with comedians John Early, Kenice Mobley, Jake Flores, Ellen Harrold, and Morgan Kemp. We’ll also debut a special performance by NYC Democratic Socialists of America’s choir, Sing in Solidarity!

Proceeds go directly to providing support and training non-union workers organizing their workplaces.

Food Connect Map

Food Connect Map
The Food Pantries kicked off this project by gathering comprehensive community food resource information, then creating an asset map that includes resources such as food pantries, community and senior meals, summer feeding programs for children, and product access.

Food Connect Statewide Map helps connect people to community-based food assistance programs and basic resources throughout New York State. This map and its data are available for any person or organization to use to help more New Yorkers.
