We Want YOU to Design on Our Local Food Guide Cover!
GardenShare produces an annual Local Food Guide that includes listings of St. Lawrence County farm stands, u-picks, farmers markets, restaurants and other outlets that offer locally grown food. Each year this guide has a unique cover. We are calling all artists to submit original pieces that illustrate the variety of local food available in the region for the cover of the guide.

Artwork may include photography or any two-dimensional piece that can be reprinted. Participants are encouraged to use images of the Farm-to-Table Initiative led by Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County. In order to access the photos, click here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdVLHY0pLEZplscadUfziPGLOr89mEh7ZUwfY4mbZsOIWfOQA/viewform.

Remember submission should illustrate the variety of local food available in the region. To enter, send a high resolution file to info@gardenshare.org by March 9, 2022.

Act Now to Help K-12 Schools Serve More NY Grown Food!

02/08/2022
TAKE ACTION; https://farmland.salsalabs.org/nyfood4nykidsvld2022/index.html

We have an important opportunity to help put more schools on the path of purchasing and serving more farm-fresh food to kids โ€“ please write to your state representatives today! Two key programs, the New York Farm to School Grants and the New York State Farm to School Purchasing Incentive, work hand in hand to bring more New York grown and raised food to students in K-12 schools. This yearโ€™s state budget is under negotiation right now, and the governor and state legislature are considering adjustments to these critical programs.

TAKE ACTION: Send a letter to your state representatives today to let them know you support strong funding for Farm to School to help schools put more healthy, local food on our childrenโ€™s plates while supporting New Yorkโ€™s farmers!

After taking action, join us on social media to spread the word by sharing this action alert using #NYFood4NYKids!

With your help we can improve the health of our children while supporting New York farmers. Thank you for taking the time to raise your voice alongside us!

In solidarity,

Mikaela Ruiz-Ramรณn
New York Policy Coordinator

SIGN THE PETITION TO END HUNGER!

02/06/2022
Feeding New York (https://feedingnys.org/) has distributed a sign on letter advocating additional funding for HPNAP and Nourish NY.
An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (NY only)
Help End Hunger in New York
COVID-19 did not cause a hunger crisis in New York. It exposed it! I join with Feeding New York State to ask you to fund HPNAP at $54M, Nourish NY at $85M and provide $10M in a food bank capital fund. Too many of our neighbors are in fear of hunger. Give us the tools to help them.
