31st Annual People’s State of the State Press Conference

(Albany, NY) Against the backdrop of multi-billion dollar budget deficits and expanding needs, the Hunger Action Network of New York State hosted the 31stPeople’s State of the State. This proactive event united numerous advocacy organizations that called for a responsible state budget that raises revenues from our state’s millionaires and billionaires to meet the needs of all New Yorkers regardless of race, immigration status, ethnicity, gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, income or zip code. Representatives from advocacy organizations from around the state detailed proposals to raise revenues from the wealthiest New Yorkers to provide services to the millions of struggling New Yorkers who have been suffering under the last decade of austerity spending. The groups also called upon the Governor to abandon his two percent state spending cap that has disproportionately harmed programs and services for lower-income families across this state.
