Hello and welcome to another HERE FOR GOOD digest, United Way of the Greater Capital Region’s weekly newsletter. We’d like to start off by wishing all of our friends and neighbors in the Jewish community a safe and happy Hannukah, which began Sunday. Please continue reading to learn about how our team and partners have been keeping busy over the past week!

As we kick off another week, let me begin by wishing everyone who celebrates a happy Hannukah. I hope the holiday’s remaining seven days and nights grant you the opportunity to spend time with the friends and family you hold dear. Last week, UWGCR and The Blake Annex had the pleasure of hosting our community partners at our annual holiday party.

The evening served as a fantastic reminder of the caring power of our community. Virtually every person in the room has helped us advance the common good and show up for the people in the Capital Region who need it most. I can’t help but feel grateful for their continued friendship and support as we look ahead to 2023.
While we’re only a couple of weeks away from closing the book on another year, our work in the community never stops. Your support enables UWGCR and its more than 100 nonprofit partners to positively impact thousands of individuals and families living right here in the Capital Region. Please consider making a donation today and help us be HERE FOR GOOD.

At UWGCR, we encourage each of our supporters and partners to “Give, Advocate, and Volunteer.” In just a short period of time, Bank of America VP and Senior Relationship Manager Kevin Cordella has done all three.
Less than a month after leading a successful Giving Tuesday fundraising campaign as one of Emerging Leaders United’s “Next Generation of Philanthropists,” Kevin brought more than a dozen of his colleagues to The Blake Annex last week to volunteer at the SHRED Foundation. For a few hours, the team sorted hats, gloves, jackets, and other supplies that will be enjoyed by the children and teens who are hitting the slopes with SHRED this winter. Thank you, Kevin and the entire Bank of America team for always being loyal supporters of United Way!

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: you’d be hard-pressed to find a partner more supportive than CDTA . This past week we celebrated at the Albany bus garage as CDTA wrapped up this year’s HERE FOR GOOD campaign, which raised an impressive $137,599 for United Way.
We are grateful for everyone at CDTA who generously supports our work in the community, especially CEO Carm Basile, who we’re proud to have as UWGCR’s Board Chair, and Justin Gregaydis, who leads the workforce campaign internally at CDTA. Thank you for helping us be HERE FOR GOOD!

In addition to showing up every day for the hard-working men and women in the local labor community, our friends at CSEA are fantastic bakers! Friday’s bakesale and raffle in support of UWGCR were proof that there are more than a few ways to be HERE FOR GOOD.
Thank you to everyone at CSEA for the tasty treats and for being loyal supporters of United Way!

Congratulations to our very own CFO, Amber Schiller! Amber recently graduated from United Way’s Advanced Leadership Program, which admitted just 17 colleagues from a pool of more than 13,000 applicants from United Way branches around the world. We couldn’t be any prouder. Hats off to you, Amber!

Every once in a while, our hardworking Resource Development team takes a break to have a little fun! We hope you enjoy the following video, which pays homage to our love of ’80s and ’90s sitcoms and shines a light on our commitment to being HERE FOR GOOD. From now through the end of December, every donation will be matched up to $10,000 thanks to one of our generous donors! We’d also like to welcome our brand new Director of Resource Development, Paige Hughes, to the UWGCR family!
