Leadership Training: Healthcare Storytelling (Online)

06/06/2020
The Coronavirus pandemic reveals the weaknesses of the U.S. healthcare system. Sharing our stories is critical to understanding how the current system fails to meet our needs and a first step in building our capacity to advocate for the systemic changes that are needed.

With financial support from the Health Foundation for Western and Central New York, Physicians for a National Health Program NY chapter is convening web-based Grassroots Leadership Trainings on Healthcare Storytelling.

Through these trainings, we seek to develop the leadership capacity of New Yorkers most impacted by inequities in healthcare access by providing training on story-based advocacy and universal coverage principles. Please share this invitation with interested community members who are passionate about healthcare justice.

The training lasts approximately 2.5 hours and will be conducted using Zoom video conference. Participants will receive $20.

Outraged by the murder of George Floyd

06/06/2020
All of us at Hunger Action Network of New York State are outraged by the murder of yet another Black person in the United States. George Floyd was a son, a brother, a father, and a friend. His murder was the result of inhumane police brutality which continues to be perpetuated by white supremacy. Not only should those who murdered George Floyd be brought to justice, but our society needs to work for justice for all the victims of racism and violence at the hands of the state. We must dismantle Institutional and systemic racism in all its forms. Unless, and until, white America is willing to collectively acknowledge its privilege and take responsibility for its past, we will not be able to move forward toward a just, equal, and equitable society.
