In January the Governor releases her Executive Budget. Our convening is to call on the governor and the state legislature to take action in supporting frontline community food providers in the FY 2025 budget process. The Ask: We are asking for the NYS Budget to increase funding for food procurement programs: Fund Hunger Prevention Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP) at $75 Million. Fund Nourish NY at $75 Million. The Food Summit is a biennial event put together by The Alliance for a Hunger Free New York. The event is designed to bring together food assistance providers, academics, advocates, and communities across New York. The all-day symposium-style event aims to educate and share best practices, research, and innovations in hunger relief efforts. The Food Summit will be held on June 12, 2024, at the Armory of Russell Sage College in Albany. We are expecting 400 in-person participants and 500 virtual participants. The focus areas for discussion are: Strengthening the Food Assistance Networks Food as Medicine Anti-Hunger Advocacy and Action We are looking for speakers to share about their work, research, and experiences.
