Are you or your family members struggling to make ends meet?
Are you concerned about your neighbors who donโ€™t always have enough food?
Do you believe we can do better when it comes to ensuring everyone has what they need to survive and thrive?
Join us on May 1st to share and learn how poverty and food insecurity are impacting our community and how we can take action to end them. In recent years, we saw how policy changes made a big difference. Emergency COVID-19 measures actually led to a big reduction in poverty โ€“ especially child poverty. But as those measures have expired, poverty is once again on the rise. We can change that โ€“ and it starts by coming together.
Please sign up below to join us on May 1 for dinner and to hear and learn from impacted community leaders as we share our plight, fight, and insights, and organize our community to end poverty.
Whether or not you can attend on May 1, we invite [โ€ฆ]

Press Release: Statewide Coalition of Food Pantries Recognized as Part of the White House Challenge to End Hunger and Build Healthy Communities

03/01/2024

Albany, N.Y. โ€“ This week, the White House announced the commitments made by groups across the U.S. as part of the White House Challenge to End Hunger and Build Healthy Communities. The Alliance for a Hunger Free New York, a coalition of frontline community food providers (like food pantries and food rescue organizations), was one of the organizations recognized for their commitment to end hunger by expanding access to food resources and amplifying the voices of those experiencing food insecurity in New York State.

โ€œWith one in four adults acknowledging they have experienced food insecurity in New York, this past year, we have the moral imperative to make sure those struggling have information and access to food resources to help them make it through these challenging timesโ€, said Natasha Pernicka, executive director of The Alliance for a Hunger Free New York. โ€œMillions of New Yorkers are seeing the effects of food inflation at grocery stores, which has increased 25% since 2019, and are turning to food pantries in record numbers. Making sure that the voices of people experiencing the distress of not having enough food are included in policy and programs is integral to ending hunger.โ€

โ€œOur challenges go beyond mere statisticsโ€”they are deeply personal to me. As a resident of the Finger Lakes region for my entire life, Iโ€™ve seen firsthand the impact of growing up in an environment where [โ€ฆ]
